Matt Airhart

Matt Airhart serves as the Chief Executive Officer of VelocityEHS. His journey began co-founding KMI, an Oakville, Ontario-based EHS software provider and building it from startup to acquisition by MSDSonline in 2014. Together, KMI and MSDSonline became VelocityEHS and subsequently acquired several other leading EHS companies during the last decade. Through continuous integration, product innovation, and an organization-wide focus on customer success, VelocityEHS has transformed into a powerhouse in EHS and ESG. Matt’s passion is building high-performing teams and solving complex business challenges. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Environmental Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Burt Chao serves as the Chief Financial Officer at VelocityEHS. He has more than 20 years of experience leading, transforming, and scaling high-growth global companies across the software, payments, and technology sectors. He is a passionate builder of high-performing, cross-functional teams and has previously served as CFO of Nintex, Pushpay and Kaleris. Burt is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin Red McCombs School of Business and the College of Liberal Arts.

Winnie Ip

Chief Operating Officer

Winnie brings over 20 years of experience leading and growing customer-facing teams. In addition to a BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from The University of Western Ontario (Ivey School of Business), Ip is a Certified Professional Ergonomist and Certified Change Management Practitioner. As COO, Ip is responsible for all Customer Experience and Operations teams, overseeing operational efficiencies and the overall post-sales customer journey, across all customer segments and products.

Julia Penfield, Ph.D.

Chief AI Officer

Dr. Julia Penfield serves as the Chief AI Officer at VelocityEHS, and has decades of experience in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), leading these initiatives across the organization. She is an expert in predictive modeling, failure prediction, anomaly detection, long-term and short-term forecasting with proper uncertainty estimations, root cause diagnostics, and mathematical optimization, driving the development of advanced technologies that strengthen risk management and operational performance. She also brings experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV) and holds 16 patents for her innovations. Prior to joining VelocityEHS, she led the machine learning and data sciences team at BC Hydro, one of Canada’s largest energy providers, where she guided AI-driven predictive maintenance and forecasting initiatives. She holds a Ph.D. in the application of machine learning in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Ken Lupo

Ken Lupo serves as Chief Technology Officer at VelocityEHS, where he oversees development, architecture, infrastructure, data, and IT. He is focused on embedding AI systematically across the Accelerate® platform, migrating to modern cloud infrastructure, and building an engineering culture where people do their best work. As a seasoned technology leader, Ken works to solve real problems for real people, cultivating a culture of excellence. He also partners to align technology strategy with overarching company imperatives and drives technology transformation, overseeing application security, SOC2 auditing, and GDPR compliance efforts. Ken holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Walsh College.

Ashley Emery is the Chief Marketing Officer at VelocityEHS. She excels in driving growth and innovation in B2B technology organizations both at the global enterprise and high-growth start up scale. Ashley has a proven track record of building and leading high-performing marketing teams, having served as Head of Global Campaigns for the Database and Analytics category at AWS, VP of Marketing at Emburse, and most recently the SVP of Demand Generation at Employ, the parent company of JazzHR, Jobvite and Lever. She holds an Executive MBA and specializes in demand generation and revenue-focused marketing strategies.

Cory Gendron

Cory Gendron serves as the Chief Revenue Officer at VelocityEHS. He has more than 20 years of expertise in the environmental, risk management, and technology sectors. At VelocityEHS, Cory leads the global revenue strategy, focused on aligning teams across the go-to-market function. Previously, Cory served as CRO at Traliant, and has held executive roles at Recycle Track Systems (RTS), Intelex Technologies, and CH2M HILL. He brings a wealth of experience scaling SaaS-based businesses both organically and through acquisition. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Environmetrics from the University of Guelph.  

Scott Epstein

Scott Epstein is a seasoned software executive with a strong record of driving SaaS growth across industries. He most recently served as Chief Product Officer at Caseware International, following over a decade in senior leadership roles at CCC Intelligent Solutions. Scott is known for building and leading global product teams, delivering AI-powered solutions, and fostering customer-focused cultures built on trust and accountability. Passionate about innovation and continuous improvement, he holds a B.S. from Purdue University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Rachel Kaiser

Rachel serves VelocityEHS and its partners by developing HR programs that attract, retain and nurture a world-class software team. She partners closely with all sectors of the business to position VelocityEHS employees for success, and ensure the smooth integration of talent from M&A activity. Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Illinois State University and certifications from the HR Certification Institute (PHR) and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP).
